Real estate association goes on strike over suicide of developer

KOZHIKODE: Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (Credai) observed a protest throughout the state on Tuesday against the harassment meted out to a builder in Thane by officials that led to his suicide.
Over 200 hundred builders under the Credai closed their offices and stopped construction works to register their protest.
Addressing a news conference here, Credai, Kerala, chairman Haseeb Ahamed and governing council member M A Mehaboob said Suraj Parmar's suicide in Thane is not an isolated incident.
"Developers are forced to undergo many cumbersome processes before getting clearance from the government. Many a times they have to approach around 60 different offices to get sanction for a project," they said.
Credai has asked the government to rationalise the processes and introduce a single-window system. Baiju M Nair and A Arunkumar also participated in the conference.
