Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) appoints General Consultants for the 33.5-km Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Metro-3 corridor. MMRC is taking Metro 3 project on fast track mode, appoints General Consultants for the project closely on the heels of receiving great response from 9 consortiums to the actual construction of the corridor.
The MMRC, after inviting expression of interest globally, has appointed an international consortium led by M/s. AECOM Asia, Hong Kong (JV with M/s. Padeco, Japan; M/s. LBG Inc., USA and M/s. Egis Rail, France) as the General Consultants for the Metro-3 corridor. The consortium, selected from out of 4 international contenders, is expected to assist MMRC in all activities of Metro-3 project implementation.
The responsibility of the general consultants would include evaluation of bids for civil work and assist in appointing contractors, review and proof checking of detailed designs, preparing tender design and documents for procurement of track work, rolling stock, system components, supervision of supply and installation, system integration, testing and commissioning of system components, supervise works and ensure safety, quality and environmental aspects.
The General Consultants will also finalize operation and maintenance manuals etc. among other. The General Consultants have been appointed as was agreed and decided at the time of loan appraisal with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on the quality-and cost-based selection.
