Man stabbed by ‘property broker’

Nagpur: A so-called property broker, identified as Lucky, decamped with a gold chain worth Rs36,000 from a woman after assaulting her husband with a knife for reasons still unclear. The incident happened at Patil Layout, Sonegaon on Monday. Devrao Paunikar, a former bank employee, who was stabbed, is recuperating at a private hospital after sustaining several serious injuries.

The police said Paunikar couple had allowed Lucky inside their house as he posed as a property dealer who was keen to finalize a deal that they were expecting. The Paunikars wanted to sell off their house where their son had committed suicide around a year ago. Lucky was ushered to the first floor terrace room by Devrao to show him the place and price they were expecting. It's learnt that Lucky suggested the Paunikars to rent their properties as not many customers would be keen to purchase a house where a youngster had ended life.

A short while later, Devrao's wife Vandana was left stunned after seeing her bleeding husband running down the stairs behind Lucky, who was fleeing after snatching the gold chain from her neck. Sonegaon police were alerted by the hospital. An offence of attempt to life and armed robbery has been registered against Lucky. It's learnt that cops have already come across some crucial clues.
